We have finally left our first Wymount home for good! It is a bitter-sweet time for me to be moving on from Provo, especially when I think back on all of the wonderful memories that we have from our time there. When I first signed up for South Wymount I actually cried because I felt like I could make anywhere a cozy home or Charles and I.... Anywhere, EXCEPT cinderblocks! . We moved in after class on the first day of winter semester. We had to borrow a truck that night to pick up a mattress (which sat on the floor until nine months ago.) Our first week we didn't have any furniture. We ate on a package of paper towels.
We borrowed a table from my brother and a card table and chairs from my parents. A few weeks later my Grandma Tigger heard about some couches that were in good condition that some neighbors from my parents neighborhood were giving away. She told them that we needed some!
Then we went back to Houston for the summer. Then back to Wymount, Quad 2! That's right..I went from crying because of cinderblock walls to only wanting to move back to Wymount! Now, nine months later we have moved back to Houston for good. Here are some of the things I love so much about Wymount:
- The huge windows
- The views
- The playground in the quad
- Tuesday night volleyball
- Our wonderful ward
- Only having to have one car
- The beautiful nature all around us
- The aquamarine and gold speckled countertops (seriously, I don't miss them, but I kinda started to like them)
- The friends
heh heh - I like how Henri is sleeping in all his pictures! You and Charles look so young and I can hardly believe that Henri was ever that little!
ReplyDeleteI'll miss you! You have such a cute little family :) Good luck with everything you're doing - I'll keep reading to stay updated!
ReplyDeleteI also cried on our first day in Wymount because of the cinderblock (and the kitchen counters, and our missing bedroom closet door...), but I really loved it too. I think it was mostly because everyone was so friendly!
ReplyDeleteP.S. For what it's worth, I remember seeing your apartment and thinking you did a cute job with decorating your front room.
Emily!! I am going to miss you so much. Did you know you were the first person to talk to me at church when we first moved in? You treated me like we were already old friends, and I will always remember it. You made me feel so welcome! I hope you love life in Houston, and thanks for always being such a great friend. :)
ReplyDeleteHurray for Wymount! I miss you a lot. Give Henri a squeeze for me!
ReplyDeleteEmily! I love Wymount too and think about it all the time. It is always so beautiful there. We miss you and Orrin misses his buddy Henri. Good luck in Texas!
ReplyDeleteI love the synopsis here-you left a signature on quad 2-on several appartments-HAHA-but it won't be the same without you. I'm going to have to work 5x as hard at extending a loving and welcoming hand to my neighbors to compensate for your absence. Call me sometime!
ReplyDeleteI didn't cry when we moved in but I wasn't very happy about the cinderblocks. But I also miss Wymount. I cried when we left.
