Kisses from James

James has done this since he was about 3 months old!  As soon as he could he would grab both sides of my face with his little hands and just pull be toward him for a kiss!  (or a bite!)

More Blueberries!

Post-Thanksgiving Camping- Inks Lake

The morning afterThanksgiving (also Henri's bithday) we went camping at Inks Lake (just Northwest of Austin) with the Fieldings (cousins) and the McLanes (cousins) and the Humphries (friends.)
I loved the landscape!  There were beautiful fall colors and there was REDROCK!!!  It was so fun to feel like we could be in Southern Utah!  Henri had fun scrambling and climbing around the rocks.
He also had fun doing a little fishing.

Here Henri is with Jackson McLane.  They are third cousins once removed.  They were little buddies all through the trip.  On the second day Henri woke up and looked around the tent and said, "Where are we?  JAAACCKSSONN!  Wake up!!!"
They could have played in the hammock forever!
Buddies by the lake... they literally could have fallen in any second!

Cute brothers.  I don't think there is quite the size difference needed to get an artistic picture, but I like it anyway!
Henri thought that this cavity in the rock looked like eyes.

 Exploring caves

Here Henri is with Macy Fielding (another third cousin once removed) and Brooke Humphries.  Macy is in our ward so they are already cute friends and he and Brooke became pretty good friends on our short hike too.
They found a pretty cool caterpillar here.  Brooke and Macy are holding leaves that they were poking it with.
 Here is the caterpillar

This might be one of my favorite videos of Henri

About 23 seconds later:
Why were we tired?  Well, both nights Charles and I both ended up sleeping with a baby in our arms!
But how could you be frustrated with a cute face like this!?!
For breakfast one morning we made French Toast and Little Smokies on our Skookie pans.
On our way home we were misdirected (by me) and found this sign and wondered...

One last video of some fun in the hammock.  (Warning: this video could make you seasick.  I was pushing and videoing at the same time..)

Thanksgiving 2012

We had a really fun Thanksgiving with our friends, Geoff and Tiffany Allen.  Jane and her "friend" Trace were there too.  Here is a picture of the beautiful table.
I made the rolls, honey butter, salad, stuffing and sweet potatoes (half with yummy crumble and half with marshmallows to appease Charles!)  Tiffany made the green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy and Geoff made one amazing turkey!!!
After naptime we came back to our house for pies!  I made the pumpkin crumble and the raspberry and the apple and Tiffany made the lemon cream and the key lime.  We were in pie heaven!
And, of course we are so so Thankful for our sweet friends and family!

I tried, or Goodbye Jimmer

We tried out having a dog for a few days.  Jimmer was a good little dog.
 But it just didn't work.
Henri's allergies, among other things were to blame.
It is kind of hard to see, but he has hives all around his eyes.
Charles went out of town that week, so admittedly, it wasn't a great time to "try."  Here are a few emails that went back and forth between us.

Emily:
We need to have a DTR about the dog.

Rundown of the morning:
James wakes up about 4:50
Dog wakes up when I get James a bottle.
I put James down after his bottle and take the dog outside.
The dog won't stay outside unless I am out there and shows no interest in going to the bathroom.  Just wants me to play with him.
James is still crying so I get him up and let the dog run around in the house
5:30 James is tired again so I put him down
Put the dog in the kennel
5:30 the dog just cries and cries
put the dog outside
the dog keeps crying
6:30 bring the dog inside and go back to bed with my door shut
6:31 hear the dog run upstairs and wake up Henri.
7:30 Henri and I are awake and the dog is sitting on the towel sleeping

uuuggghhhh!

Charles (two days later)
I guess we don't need a DTR about the dog anymore.  :-)

Goodbye Jimmer!
